Sonia Saad
Kolling Institute of Medical Research, NSW, Australia
- This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Dr Saad completed her PhD in the department of Haematology at Westmead Millennium Institute in 2002. She then took a Postdoctoral position at the Kolling Institute. Her basic research interest in progressive diabetic renal disease commenced shortly after joining the renal research lab at the Kolling. During her research career and while working on part time basis, she has co-authored 22 manuscripts. The majority of her research was published in high ranking journals such as Diabetologia, Kidney International, Journal of American Society of Nephrology, American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology and –Endocrinology and Metabolism, PLoSOne and Internarional Journal of Biochem Cell Biol. Her research interest has recently extended to address the impact of maternal obesity and associated metabolic disorders on the development of renal disease in offspring.Dr Saad has taken on administrative and leadership roles in her local research community. She has acted as a PC2 manager and has been an active member of the Scientific Staff Council. She has had a key involvement in the management of the Combined Scientific Research Meeting (which combines the University of Sydney, The University of Technology Sydney, Royal North Shore Hospital and the Kolling Institute of Medical Research) for nine years. She has served as Chair since 2005.
